Brent Barrett is currently starring as Fred Graham/Petruchio in the London production of Kiss Me, Kate  opposite Marin Mazzie and Michael Berresse.

Brent might just be the charismatic male star the musical theatre has been waiting for. James Inverne - Metro

He sings magnificently, times every gag to perfection, and during his scenes as Petruchio succeeds in persuading you that the SHREW is a genuinely funny play.  Charles Spencer - The Daily Telegraph

Prior to his West End appearance Mr. Barrett is starred in an encore performance as Billy Flynn in the Broadway production of Chicago - The Musical, a role for which he received a Los Angeles Drama Critics award.  Brent just completed a six-month run starring as Frank Butler to Reba McEntire's Annie Oakley in the Broadway revival of Annie Get Your Gun.

Ms. McEntire has her dream foil in Brent Barrett, a handsome, gleaming-toothed baritone in the tradition of Alfred Drake and Howard Keel. Mr. Barrett, late of "Chicago," is in excellent voice here, with a virile poise that recalls an earlier era of leading men. He doesn't seem to mind playing sex object to this adoring but determined Annie, and her conquest of Frank becomes a metaphor for Ms. McEntire's conquering of traditional Broadway. There's new energy in the love story and a complementary friction in their duets.             Ben Brantley, NY Times

Mr. Barrett has just completed a multi-year run starring on Broadway as Billy Flynn in the critically acclaimed production of Chicago. The Reviews are unanimous in their praise:

Brent Barrett as the silver-tongued lawyer Billy Flynn has persuasively reconceived the role, for which James Naughton won a Tony, in a younger, hungrier vein. He brings to mind one of those eager, slightly sinister big-band singers of the 1940's with the hint of predilection to violence behind the toothpaste smile, and his voice is first-rate.   Ben Brantley, NY Times

Brent Barrett is all you could wish for in a lawyer or a matinee idol, using his boyish movie-star magnetism and robust voice to epitomize the oiliness that helps his clients squirm their way out of the tightest spots.       Charles Isherwood, Variety

Mr. Prior to Chicago, Mr. Barrett played Maximilian in the Hal Prince Broadway revival of Candide at the Gershwin Theater. Before that, he starred as Tommy Albright, in the New York City opera production of Brigadoon, and appeared as Archibald in the New Zealand production of The Secret Garden, directed by Susan H. Schulman. Mr. Barrett played the debonair Victor Duchesi in the Pre-Broadway Tour of Busker Alley with Tommy Tune. He starred opposite Cathy Rigby in the National Tour of Annie Get Your Gun and was seen as Baron Felix von Gaigern in the International Tour of Grand Hotel, The Musical, which opened in London’s West End to critical acclaim. London’s Evening Standard reported Brent Barrett’s doomed young Baron was danced with bracing vitality and sung with lyric passion.

He made his Broadway debut as Tony in the revival of West Side Story, under the direction of Jerome Robbins, which he subsequently reprised in the International tour. He also appeared on Broadway in the Alan Jay Lerner and Charles Strouse musical, Dance a Little Closer.  Barrett was seen in the Maltby/Shire off-Broadway hit, Closer Than Ever, which he recorded for RCA. Other off-Broadway credits include The March of the Falsettos at the Westside Arts Theatre and The Death of Von Richtoffen at the New York Shakespeare Festival, The Time of the Cuckoo, and a musical version of Portrait of Jenny at the Henry Street Theatre.

Mr. Barrett has performed as a soloist with the Boston Pops, Minnesota Opera, Opera Pacific, Michigan Opera, Kentucky Opera and with the New York Festival of Song at Carnegie Hall. He appeared with the London Sinfonetta at Royal Festival Hall, and with the Birmingham Symphony under the direction of Sir Simon Rattle. Mr. Barrett recently debuted his one-man show, Romantic Notions, at the Triad in New York.

He released his first solo cd Brent Barrett, the Kander and Ebb Album, on Varese Sarabande. He may be heard singing the role of Tommy Albright in the EMI-Angel recording of Brigadoon. Gramophone Magazine praised Mr. Barrett for his strong and sensitive portrayal and beautifully controlled singing. Other recordings include Grand Hotel, Strike up the Band, Dance a Little Closer, Show Stoppers, The Busby Berkeley Album, Lost in Boston IV, Unsung Musicals, vol. III., and Wonderful Town, conducted by Sir Simon Rattle.

Television and film appearances include: Longtime Companion, guest-starring roles on Hercules, Another World, and The Guiding Light. Mr. Barrett is still recognized as Tony Barclay, the man who killed Jenny Gardner on All My Children.
